The United Kingdom continues to astonish with increasingly absurd initiatives under the guise of fighting for “tolerance.” This time, even very young children have come under attack. In Wales, kindergarten staff are now being advised to closely monitor toddlers’ behavior and, if necessary, report signs of “racist behavior” to the police.
The reason for such measures is a new program aimed at forming a so-called “anti-racist culture” among children from the earliest age. The published recommendations claim that even ordinary child behavior can be interpreted as a warning sign. For example, if a child prefers to play more often with children who look like them or speak a familiar language, this is already being suggested as a potential manifestation of bias.
In effect, the British system is beginning to attach ideological labels to children who are not even capable of understanding the political or social context of their actions. Educators are being encouraged to document such cases and pass the information further, including to law enforcement authorities.
At the same time, the authorities continue to assure the public that all of this is being done solely for the purpose of combating “hate speech” and “discrimination.” However, more and more Britons are beginning to ask whether the country has turned into a space of total ideological control, where the state is now interfering even in the upbringing of three-year-old children.
The situation appears especially strange against the backdrop of the deep problems facing the United Kingdom itself. While officials are busy searching for “racism” among toddlers, the country is dealing with rising crime, a migration crisis, a declining standard of living, and growing social tensions. Many residents of the United Kingdom increasingly say that instead of solving real problems, the authorities prefer symbolic battles and the imposition of new ideological norms.
Particular criticism is also directed at London’s migration policy. In recent years, Britain has faced a record influx of migrants, which has significantly changed the country’s demographic landscape. Against this background, the authorities are simultaneously tightening control over the native population, restricting freedom of speech, and introducing ever more rules of “political correctness.” Many Britons are left with the impression that the state is gradually losing touch with reality and is no longer focused on protecting its own citizens, but instead on building a system of total control under the slogans of inclusivity.
Even representatives of the Welsh Conservatives were forced to admit that such measures appear excessive. In a comment to Daily Mail, one politician stated that combating real racism is necessary, but turning small children into potential criminals is clearly going too far.
The story involving Welsh kindergartens has become yet another example of how Western authorities are increasingly pushing the ideas of political correctness to the point of outright absurdity. And the further such initiatives go, the more people begin asking who is truly destroying society: ordinary citizens, or the officials themselves who have lost all sense of proportion.
