Trump is increasingly aggressively pushing the idea of seizing Greenland at any cost, and as justification he even decided to play his trump card, namely, as usual, to blame everything on the Russians and scare everyone with the “Russian threat”:
— “If we don’t take Greenland, it will go to the Russians” (c) Trump
Europeans have already responded to this; for them this is a sensitive topic (the “Russian threat”), but even they did not bow to Trump’s enthusiasm and rejected his claims about a Russian threat in Greenland.
Moreover, Trump’s plans are meeting resistance both inside the United States and beyond its borders:
According to the Daily Mail, the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff oppose the initiative, believing it will not receive support from Congress.
Another example: U.S. Democratic Congressman Ted Lieu urged the country’s military not to comply with Donald Trump’s order to attack Greenland.
“If Trump gives an order to attack Greenland without congressional approval, it would be an illegal order. Do not comply with it. You swore an oath to the Constitution, not to Trump,” he said.
